Hello Fawn Lake Fliers families!

We are looking forward to our away meet tonight against Leeland Station!  Please reference the email from our RSL Rep, Stephanie Taylor, (sent yesterday) for AWAY meet arrival details for tonight. 

Monday started out as a beautiful night and we were looking forward to hosting our first home meet of the season!  It is amazing to see people come together to make an event like this happen.  

Thank you to everyone who helped with setting up, getting your kids there on time, accommodating new set up protocols, and supporting our concessions team.  Had the weather cooperated, it would have been an amazing evening! Going forward, we have a few areas that need improvement.  Read on. 

There was some miscommunication with the lifeguards about the amount of time required to wait in between hearing thunder.  Initially we were told 1 hour but then they told us 30 minutes.  This led to some confusion with people going home.  In the future, if we have weather delays, please stay in your vehicle unless you receive word that the meet has been cancelled. 

Due to the chaotic end to the meet, cleaning up fell on just a few people.  It was a huge amount of work.  No clean up crew volunteers came back to help.  We want to thank the following individuals who were NOT signed up to clean up, but lent a hand anyway: LoriBeth Anderson, Nathan Anderson, Fiona Anderson, Krista Simpson, Jour Del Monte, Liam McHugh, Lina Hansen, The Johnson Family and The Hunt Family.  A huge thank you to our equipment managers - Mike Packard and Jason Simpson - for both setting up the meet AND tearing it down.  You all made the unexpected end of the swim meet a little more doable for the board.  We greatly appreciate your  help! 

We also have received notice from the Fawn Lake Country Club that trash was left on tables at the Lakeside Grill after the meet.  The club was closed that evening, but when the workers arrived on Tuesday morning, they found trash on tables where people had eaten a snack and left wrappers behind.  As a reminder, every family is responsible for cleaning up their own trash.  Please remind your kids that this the expectation at practices and swim meets.  Our relationship with the FLCC and First Residential is KEY to our ability to continue having a swim team in years to come. Every year, the swim team is required to reapply for approval from the HOA.  If we don't treat these facilities with respect, we put the future of the swim team in jeopardy.  Please do your part to ensure these facilities are left in good shape after you or your kids use them. 

Finally, children 10 and under may not be dropped off at a swim meet without parent supervision.  Please know that coaches, board members, or other parent volunteers will not be able to supervise your child if they come to these meets alone.  It is not safe for young kids to be dropped off at the pool early while the pool deck is being set up.  Our bathroom facilities are currently in the parking lot.  Young children should not be left to utilize these facilities on their own.  Board members, coaches, and volunteers are all extremely busy setting up the meet and preparing kids to swim.  They will not be able to watch over swimmers who are dropped off prior to designated arrival times.  If you are not able to attend the entirety of the meet with your child, your child should not be swimming. 

Finally, please continue to remind your children that at practice, no one is allowed to ride or walk through the circle in front of the Community Clubhouse.  The circle is blocked off for construction vehicles only.  Also, bikes must be parked on the grass on either side of the gate in front of the pool deck.  Bikes should not be parked on walkways or directly in front of the portapotties. 

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation! Running a swim team is a group effort!  We need all hands on deck to support this endeavor.  Thank you for supporting the coaching staff and board members as we work together to make this a fun and exciting experience for our children!
