About the Fawn Lake Fliers Swim Team
The Fawn Lake Fliers Swim Team is a competitive summer swim team with swimmers ages 5-18. As a team, we focus on exercise, friendship, community and fun. Our Head Coach is Nicole Kent, who has coached the Fliers for 19 years. The Fawn Lake Fliers Swim Team season will begin on June 1 and end on July 29. Evaluations will take place on June 1 and practices will begin on June 6. The Fliers practice Monday-Friday (see swim practices for more details). This year, we will have three home meets and three away meets.
We are excited to bring back our Junior Fliers program this year. This is for our swimmers who are not quite ready for the Fliers team, but can still swim the full 25 yards and would benefit from the extra attention and additional coaching. Our Junior Fliers practice Monday and Tuesday mornings and do not participate in swim meets. The goal for all our Junior Fliers is to graduate quickly and safely to the Fliers team.
Any swimmer whose immediate family is a resident, lot owner, or employee is eligible to join the Fawn Lake Fliers Swim Team. By accepting membership, each family agrees to abide by all of the rules and policies of the Fawn Lake Swim Team, Fawn Lake Community Association, FirstService Residential and Continental Pools.
To instill in our swimmers and their parents, the principles of good sportsmanship, teamwork, competitiveness, leadership, community spirit, and individual and team improvement, along with the relentless pursuit of fun in the sport of swimming.
The Fawn Lake Fliers were established in 1994 by Debbie McCormick and Patti Colletti with only 33 swimmers. With hard work and a lot of dedication, the swim team thrived, creating a great participation sport for the families of Fawn Lake. Since that time, the team has grown to over 150 swimmers ranging in ages from 5 to 18. The team is part of the Rappahannock Swim League, comprised of 6 divisions and 25 teams, from the Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George, Caroline, and Orange Counties.
Parent volunteers are an integral part of swimming. Unlike other sports, swim meets are run 100% by parent volunteers. Volunteering is fun and helps parents to get to know one another. Each family is required to volunteer for a total of six sessions during the swim meets throughout the season.
Swim Team Fees
First swimmer $155, each additional swimmer $110 per swimmer (for example, a family of 3 swimmers would cost $375). $25 fee for returned checks.
The Fawn Lake Fliers Swim Team fees primarily pay for our talented and dedicated coaches, lifeguards, insurance, equipment needs, and RSL fees.
Payment is due upon registration. All fees must be paid before swimmers are allowed to participate.
